I would really like to sell my jewelry and art at some galleries, shows, street fests, etc in Chicago and NYC. Do any of you have any tips on shows or ways to get my work out there without spending $400 for a booth?
I also want to read more books related to making, creating, and selling art. Here are a few on my list: Living Out Loud: Activities to Fuel a Creative Life, Craft, Inc.: Turn Your Creative Hobby Into a Business, and The Artist's Way. I also found this list of 4 Inspiring Books About Creativity on Marmalade Moon. I think I have my work cut out for me!
geez, all i can say is friends and networking. Or doing it the old fashion way Malena, just going out there and self promoting yourself in Metro's and different shops.
ReplyDeleteI knoowww...I'm really bad at promoting myself I've realized. Almost all of my sales have come through Usman in some way! He's finally talked me into wearing my necklaces so I can say that I sell jewelry when someone notices it!

As far as making the connects in NYC have you considered asking local artists here in Chicago if they could help you out? Perhaps just dropping by bead stores, showing them your work, giving them your card and asking if they have anyone in NYC that you could connect with. I'll keep thinking about how to get the word out locally!
